I also live in Fairfax County. Did you check the election day results? In 2008 Obama won with by over 110,000 votes. I sat as a poll watcher all day yesterday. Immigrants and minorities vote Democrat.

The top three employers in Fairfax County (2010) are the FC public schools (22,850), the USG (17,370), and the county government (11,184). There are 31,000 students enrolled in ESOL--an increase of a third from the year before. We had the ballot in Spainish and English in Fairfax County--the first time in history. Kerry won Fairfax County in 2004, the first time in over 40 years.

Now, about the demographics, if you don't get people registered who are reasonably aligned with Republican thinking, they are not going to vote Republican! The dead and injured must be replaced!

Easier said than done. Most people inherit their political party in much the same way they do with religion. Blacks still vote over 90% for the Dems regardless of the candidate's race. They have 14% unemployment and lousy schools, but they eschew their personal interests to remain members of the tribe.

You can poll watch one precinct at a time and in Fairfax that will probably stick you smack dab in the middle of a usually invisible ethnic group. Some immigrant groups, e.g. Hindus, always vote for the Democrats ~ that's because the greater part of the immigrants from India come from Congress Party families and areas, and they've decided Democrats are no different than Congress Party ~ and besides, seriously speaking, the Republicans have a history of opposing slavery and if there's one thing the elite Hindus love it's their servants. Without them they are helpless ~ so no Republicans for them.

Not to be catty about it, but Hindus do know their kind ~ people like Pelosi.

In Fairfax NO ONE has a lousy school ~ maybe lousy students, but that's their problem.

NOTE ON BALLOTS: I asked for a ballot in Skolt Sa'ami. They didn't have one ~ next election they will have one.
