After Obama win, U.S. backs new U.N. arms treaty talks

(Reuters) - Hours after U.S. President Barack Obama was re-elected, the United States backed a U.N. committee's call on Wednesday to renew debate over a draft international treaty to regulate the $70 billion global conventional arms trade.

U.N. delegates and gun control activists have complained that talks collapsed in July largely because Obama feared attacks from Republican rival Mitt Romney if his administration was seen as supporting the pact, a charge Washington denies.

The month-long talks at U.N. headquarters broke off after the United States - along with Russia and other major arms producers - said it had problems with the draft treaty and asked for more time.

But the U.N. General Assembly's disarmament committee moved quickly after Obama's win to approve a resolution calling for a new round of talks March 18-28. It passed with 157 votes in favor, none against and 18 abstentions.

They’re not going to send blue helmets to your house. They’re going to pass laws that make it impractical or unprofitable to manufacture ammunition or firearms for sale to civilians. Eventually you won’t be able to afford to purchase either.

Bullseye. That's exactly their path for control.

With congress in session due to the Fiscal Cliff, the Senate had better address this and reject it. Hear that McConnell?

>> They will come for them in the middle of the night, or send you neighbor for them. Or grab you wife, kids, etc, until you turn them over.

You sound like “they”.

I am a student of history.

Such claims have been made in many countries, some with a longer tradition of resistance than we.

The police almost always follow orders. The people either submit or get destroyed.

That is history friend.

Already sent my son to stock us up on the ammo. He’s looking at an AR and I told him to check out the 9 mm’s for me....

You don’t make history by repeating it.

All of history is a repeat of themes that came before.

Societies and civilizations have tread this path long before we come to be. And they all faced similar problems.

Simply put, no civilization lasts once the decline sets it. The pain of rebuilding to to much for most, until there is nothing left to rebuild. Greece and Rome fell, for the same reasons we are in trouble now.

To many people living off to few. To many outsiders who don't share the civilization brought in to support it till the civilization no longer exists.

Read Cicero. Read Herodotus. Read history. Stop emoting, and saying how “special” we are. Look at see.

We need to start worrying about preserving the spark of western civilization.

They’ve already programmed too much of the public with the narrative that anyone with more than one gun is a dangerous terrorist lunatic. This is not going to be a sudden “stormtroopers in the night” situation. The left takes the long view on all of its policies. The disarmament of America will be done gradually by convincing kids in school to not own weapons (although we see how well that works in the ‘hood). This process will certainly accelerate in the next four years, but given the results of Tuesday’s election, I don’t know if it is reversible.

I don’t want to be. I want to be wrong.

I want to wake up some day and have it all be better. But short of heaven, that won’t happen.

When they come for the guns, gun owners won’t have any idea that’s what the LEOs are there for until it’s too late. There won’t be any announcement before it happens.

Thats true for the first ones, but word will spread like wildfire and the remainder will be waiting to ambush. They can't get everyone concurrently.

Saying you lost or sold your guns will only work for so long. Most likely the ATF/FBI are already tracking our guns.

Besides, saying you lost the guns isn’t the same as exercising your 2nd amendment rights. That is more like say you’re exercising your 1st amendment religious rights by running an underground church in order to avoid persecution.

Fortunately, most of us LEOs in the Red States respect the Constitution and would warn the populace of gun confiscation moves if we’re even told about it. I can assure you that there are hundreds of highly trained SWAT teams, especially in TX, that would be itching to go against the feds if they try something like this. We have way more LEO firepower than they do.

Hopefully, someone will take a SERIOUS look at the votes, percentages, ratios, etc.. I'm not a math wiz or statistical probability guru otherwise I might try. I think the most pervasive problem is the breakdown in ethics, honor, honesty.. Seems EVERY union person and FOB (Fresh Off the Boat) I know thinks cheating is a way of life. And all they think about is "me, me, me".. Talk about GREED? You mention 'America' and they answer with "me, me, me.."

I think the female 'arousal for 0bama' factor was a significant threat to Mitt's chances.. A couple of the 20-something bimbo's I've run into know NOTHING about what's going on in the world.. You say 'Benghazi' and they say 'Who's HE?' Young adults have been INTENTIONALLY dumbed-down in the schools by their union-controlled Socialist teachers.
