I was thinking the same things. My wife is from Venezuela and she knows exactly what ObamaNation will ultimately become.I told her that if Obama wins perhaps it would be a good time to temporarily move overseas and do some missionary work.

I’d be interested in realistic suggestions too. Not sure where to start with this myself. Feel free to ask me any questions that might help render better answers.

If you haven’t already, have a good six month supply of food on hand, so that you can at least eat, if nothing else.

We know there are dangerous plans upcoming initiation and we know "forces" are in place.

What we don't know is how we will respond when tried.

In my almost 65 years, I've never been tried

Many men have via military/combat

I enlisted but went to Korea instead of Viet Nam so .. I, and I think many conservatives, have never been tried.

And I don't want to think about nor talk openly ... but I think many are thinking thoughts we never wanted to consider.

Good question, and one for which I have no answer.

But here’s a couple of things I’m doing - I’ve been holding my savings until this day, thinking about adding on to the house and/or buying a new car. No chance now - I do NOT want to spend any more than necessary in this economy. In essence,

I’m going Galt on the spending side only, choosing not to give up my job (unless it gives me up first). They’d just fill it with someone else so the net effect would be bad for me, not so much for anyone else.

Big issue now is where to put my savings where it will hold its actual value and cannot be confiscated by a bankrupt government. Precious metals seem a little high right now, and are a bit of a gamble. Perhaps not as much a gamble as the US Dollar but still a little risky.

That all depends on your financial situation.
Can you leave the country and survive on what you have?
Central and south America have some really great spots for expat families, and the Philippines, where I am, is great for single guys.

I’m thinking exactly the same things. Figuring out how and what to pare down to get as independent as possible. And as far away from government intervention.

Above all, I think we need to have a way of staying in contact if FR and the right-wing internet goes dark.

All those blue state people are in for some surprises, even though they were warned. For one thing, all Catholic schools will begin to close after this year rather than obey the HHS mandate. I wonder if all these “blue” communities will be happy about the additional taxes they’ll be paying for all those new students. And Catholic hospitals (one out of six of all hospitals in the US) will close as well.

Am happy to hear ideas...I have to say my spouse was literally in tears last night, thinking about what dangers we face (not just as a family but as a society and a nation). We prayed together, asking God to guide us. HE knew this was going to happen, and HE can use this for HIS glory.

Well said...

Romney received 4 million fewer votes than did McCain four years ago. I was stunned and numbed by the results.

Michael Savage correctly predicted that Obama would win. We can only hope and pray that President Obama makes the right decisions affecting the future of all of the people he represents.

Is it possible for you to garden? If you don’t have a yard, there are many sites devoted to container gardening and gardening in small spaces. From July until October of this year, we harvested an average of 5 to 7 lbs. of vegetables and fruits. We ate some and preserved and shared the remainder. Canning and dehydrating food is worth considering. Perhaps you would be interested in the gardening thread on FR.

Going Galt is impossible, the next best alternative is bankrupt the system. That is very easy, get it while you can, cut back on your income, go on food stamps, get your ebt card, try to fit your life into every hand out that you can possibly receive, start taking more than you contribute, take it down fast, but have your guns ready because the takers will freak out when it’s all gone!

Very important to be healthy and in shape because Obamacare won’t be there for us when something serious happens.

I’m in the same situation. I may be a bit younger than you, but my circumstances are probably also a bit more precarious.

Do you know about this:

With my husbands health problems since 2009, we are not good, debt-wise. We have to concentrate on getting rid of debt. We have several months of food put back, and don’t plan on making any large purchases. We need a new roof, but buckets will have to do for now. I can live with that. We need to live more self-sufficiently.

The only way to do it is like GW Bush did in 2008 and buy a 100,000 acre ranch in South America.

Friend, You won’t have to “Go Galt”. Galt will come to you once we try to borrow at the ever-accelerating rate that is necessary to keep the status quo.

You won’t like it.

Better advice: Think depression. think what can you do to make life more tolerable, and in some case simply possible. How many kids will return under your roof - or will you have to move in yourself with someone else.
