Report: Non-Union Alabama Utility Workers Turned Away From New Jersey

Utility workers from Alabama, touted by Governor Christie as coming a great distance to help restore power, were reportedly turned away from New Jersey because they did not belong to a union. Alabama utility crew in New JerseyAlabama utility crew in New Jersey (WAFF TV)
Huntsville Utilities, Decatur Utilities and Trinity Electric workers were sent to Long Island instead according to Huntsville, Alabama TV station WAFF because “they were told by crews in Seaside Heights that they can’t do any work there since they’re not union employees” according to one of the employees.
Some of the crews wound up in Roanoke, Virginia while others headed home.

Christie didn’t do this. It was the local township. Probably the unioncunioncrew chief in charge of the site.

These decisions are made WAY in advance. It boils down to your viewpoint in life. The citizenery decided long ago that union participation in the long run is better than non-union assistance in the short-run. Things will go back to normal. THEIR normal. The affected citizens will then be upset that their union allegance will be the example of how their system does NOT work. I think “Madge” from Palmolive said it best when she said, “You’re soaking in it!”. Move on crew. There are smart people just up the road that are willing to accept your largess.
