Meghan McCain to GOP after Sandy: Do you still doubt climate change?
The Hill ^

Posted on 10/30/2012 9:29:45 AM PDT by chessplayer

Political analyst Meghan McCain, daughter of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), is challenging widespread GOP skepticism about climate change in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

“So are we still going to go with climate change not being real fellow republicans [sic]?” McCain wrote, via Twitter, around midnight as the storm was slamming ashore.

Both outlets look at a 2012 study by the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change on extreme weather and climate change.

That study finds that researchers currently have “low confidence” in tying cyclone activity in recent decades to climate change.

No, we do not doubt climate change ; we DO KNOW that climate change does NOT occur for the reasons that Meghan McCain might think it is happening.

actually, Typhoon Tip, in the pacific in 1979, has the world record for the lowest pressure in a hurricane ever recorded...970 millibars. The record for an Atlantic hurricane was “Wilma” in 2005...at 882 millibars. And, Hurricane Camille in 1969 is still the most powerful hurricane to ever “directly” hit the mainland United States...909 millibars at landfall.

Memo to Meghan McCain: No, I don’t doubt that the climate is changing. It has been changing continually since the earth was formed. I do not believe that carbon dioxide is a significant cause of such changes. Historically, atmospheric carbon dioxide trails rises in global temperature, does not lead it. In fact, as the earth gets warmer and warmer, the atmospheric carbon dioxide content continues to rise, and as the earth gets cooler, carbon dioxide continues to increase, but only to a point, after which it begins to decline in concentration.

No, we never had storms before!

The Dinosaurs died off cause T-Rex were acting cool, driving around in big SUV’s and farting a lot because they did not take the time to chew their food properly for the environment.

Stop denyin’!!! You are worse than Hitler! Give the UN tax money and centralized energy control so they can turn up the temperature and stop the storm machine! :)

The only thing about which there is no doubt is Meghan McCane’s idiocy. Why doesn’t she get a job rather than being a professional twit.

Dear Meghan,

You misunderstand the issue. Nobody has ever doubted climage change. What we have steadfastly, laughably denied, though, is that mankind can or has altered its course.

The planet is a very big thing; humans, by comparison, are not.

The 1938 Long Island hurricane made landfall as a Cat 3 and still had hurricane force winds when it hit Vermont.

The thing that's changed is there are millions more people and structures in that region than existed 74 years ago. Storms packed just as much destructive power back then as now -- there just wasn't as much stuff in their paths to be destroyed and people to be killed or injured.
