With all the discussion about the storm, some may want to check out the link. The 1% reference is the 100 year storm area, and the .02% reference is the 500 year storm area.
You can even make .pdfs of areas you want to check out.
Sitting here in Brooklyn not far from 3 beaches. Thank you for the map.
Here in the UWS (high ground)
And Fire Island and the Hamptons are like, gonna disappear for a week under water..
Watching TWC and they are showing the waves, actual rolling swells in the Hudson topped with white caps and they are starting to wash over at Battery Park. And this is before the main surge and high tide.
I didn’t know that West Midtown Manhattan had been renamed after Chelsea Clinton.
They’re over 12 hours away from the main event. Already experiencing spotty power hits here in Northern VA - we’re also 12 hours away from the main event.
As for storm surges...I grew up on the South Shore a few blocks from the water. A hurricane hit when I was nineteen (a million years ago). We left our cars up on Merrick Road and walked a mile down to a waterfront bar (on a canal in Seaford) where about fifteen of us had a party.
We decided it was time to leave when the water in the bar reached our knees. We linked arms and walked back up to the cars...half drunk and laughing like idiots.
Good times.
