MANDEL: Obama’s silence on consulate attack
Washington Times ^ | October 26, 2012 | by Daniel Mandel

In the final presidential debate, President Obama told us what he did after the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist murders in Benghazi of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. He also told us what he did to take the United States into Libya before the attack. But he didn’t tell us how and why this terrorist attack occurred or why his administration strenuously avoided calling it that for two weeks. Nor did Mitt Romney pursue him on the subject. So while Libya was mentioned 12 times, we got no closer to the heart of the matter.

Yet, even in a campaign dominated by economic issues, the Benghazi question will not go away, nor should it, because lying behind it is one of the great defects in Mr. Obama’s Middle East policy.

The president and his officials had claimed that the assault was a spontaneous one by Muslim demonstrators offended by an anti-Muhammad video. They were reluctant to admit that it was a premeditated terrorist attack by Islamist terrorists at war with the United States, against whom energetic security measures were warranted but lacking.

I simply cannot believe this.

The CNN.com "Breaking News" site right now, this second, 1959 hours Eastern time, has one tiny item on their home page about the Benghazi situation. No picture.

They have a picture story about how Obama is polling ahead of Romney by four points (50-46 Obama). Three other headline stories about political nonsense, who's ahead in local races, yada yada.

A story about Triumph the Insult Dog. A story about Colin Powell endorsing Obama. A story about a UFO sighted over Kentucky, and a story about a child entertainer named Honey Boo Boo.

It's incredible. It's like an alternate universe.

The MSM is waiting for Romney to say somthing about this. They're not going to cover it until Romney says something.

The instant Romney says anything about Benghazi, the story will explode, and it will explode like this: "Romney Plays Politics With Benghazi Tragedy."

Romney Shoots From Hip, Tries To Score Political Knock-Out Before Investigation Results Are In."

Romney is letting the press handle Libyagate. To some extent, it seems to be working. As biased as they are, media types don’t like being flat-out lied to.

Obama is drowning in this Libya story — no way should the GOP nominee throw him a life preserver.

The press is full of Alinsky communists. They lie about anything our side says to protect Obama.

By democrats --no problem--after much convoluted reasoning and self deception they will decide it was needed to prevent the Nazi GOP from gaining power and all be forgiven BANK ON IT

I had not thought of it like that. YOU are a genius and absolutely correct.

They are trying to LURE Romney out, and he will not take the bait. Good for him.

He was not involved in any manner and absolutely has no information to give.

When it does explode, all the MSN's will be left looking like idiots, which don't take much anyway.
