70 members of the French youth group Génération Identitaire occupied the Poiters mosque on Saturday to protest against the influence of Islam in France. The youths climbed to the roof and unfurled a banner with the name of their movement.

70 members of the French youth group Génération Identitaire occupied the Poiters mosque on Saturday to protest against the influence of Islam in France. The youths climbed to the roof and unfurled a banner with the name of their movement.

French politicians firmly condemned the occupation.

The youth activists displayed a number of banners including one that read, “Charles Martel beat the Arabs at Poitiers in 732,” in reference to a battle credited with stopping the advance of Islam into western Europe. That was 1300 years ago.

The Génération Identitaire youths released this referendum.

I think this has been spreading for quite some time. There’s a group called the “English Defence League” which has been doing the same kind of thing in England.

I love this quote from a US rabbi speaking to the EDL in 2010:

“History will be recorded that on this day, read by our children for eternity, one group lit the spark to liberate us from the oppressors of our two governments and the leftist, fifth column, quisling press, and that it was the EDL which started the liberation of England from evil.”

There are other “Defence League” type groups in several European countries.

From 1958-1961 I was a little boy and lived in Poitiers. My father was an Army officer stationed at an American base there. Lots of good, family type memories of Poitiers.

It looks like English authorities are taking preventative measures. The EDL and their like won’t get in the way of the diversities and their prosperity in the UK.

People will say these parties are made up of hooligans and KKK-like racists. Generally white people that care do kinda fit the stereotype.

The same could be said of Tea Party or any militia - defend the Constitution types.

Oh yeah - they do say that; it just doesn’t play as well here in the US.
