Fire Department officials said they want to keep as much of the buildings intact, so they can resell them. They also want to help keep the property values up in the neighborhoods where the fire stations are located.

Hahahah. Property values? Hahahaha.

My immediate reflex is to wonder how many of the firemen are involved. It certainly wouldn't be the first time police and firemen were involved in the very problem they claim they're trying to prevent.

Liberal governance in action:

Step 1 — tax the s___t out of the productive people until they flee the city.

Step 2 — make the business climate so hostile that no new businesses want to move in.

Step 3 — start neglecting services when tax revenue start drying up to the point where parts of the city are literally uninhabitable.

Step 4 — give up and withdraw services from large parts of the city and let the mob take over.

You end up with a ghost town where the only inhabitants are criminals.
