I knew President Obama was miserable when he tried to give debate moderator Jim Lehrer the Puss-in-Boots eyes. You may want to move on to another topic, Obama implored Lehrer, a bit like a motorcycle thief begging a cop to take him into custody rather than let him stay with the surly biker gang that caught him.
I expected Romney to beat expectations and win the debate (though I had no clue how decisive his victory would be), not because I thought Romney was such a fantastic debater, but because Obama is the single most overrated politician of my lifetime.
Thats not to say hes a bad politician. Hes not. Hes pretty good. But hes not the master so many people claim he is.
The Irish have a saying: Hunger makes the best sauce. If youre hungry enough, roadkill will make for a kings feast. Liberals were so hungry for someone like Obama, he seemed like so much more than he really was.
You could hear indications of this fact in the way some of the more crotchety members of the Democratic establishment described Obama. Sen. Harry Reid was blown away by the potential of this light-skinned African-American with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.
In 2007, Joe Biden said of his then-opponent, I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. He added: I mean, thats a storybook, man.

The False Self Esteem Movement Suffers A Setback
He thought he smashed through the Democratic primaries like a battering ram through concrete when he mostly pushed on open doors.
The Democrats and independents had been waiting for someone like Obama to show up. He was perfect. Half black, half white. Harvard education. "Law professor" (NOT). Good speaker (when he has a teleprompter). All things to all men ("I'm like a mirror. People look at me and see what they want to see."). They couldn't wait to get to the polls and vote for him. Now, a lot of them are having buyer's remorse.
Too many people convinced themselves they were voting for the Huxtables...imagine their surprise.
Liberals and RINOs have been looking for their Black Superman (or Black Jesus) for years. Obama was the latest version. As usual, he failed. It's only a matter of time before they find the next one...
Uh, I think the doors were pulled open and held for him least he break a finger nail on the handle!
As a postscript, here’s a depressing, post-debate thought:
If a man’s worth can be determined by the caliber of his enemies, this woman and her husband have been frightening John Bohner and the GOP for four years.
Romney just stood up to him, stripped him of his mojo and basically showed the GOP and, for that matter, a goodly number of Free Republic here that he’s a—what’s that word the Frogs use? A force majeure.
The best that we can say of ourselves is that we recognized Obama for what he was early and often: a zero.
(I almost got a job at a carnival as a “human cannonball.” But it was a small outfit, the owner looked over my 40” waistline and said he couldn’t use a man of my caliber.)
The talking heads already knew that... Romney is not on the far right as Obama’s negatives ads have been trying to make him out to be. However they actually started believing their own myth that Obama was the “Black Superman”. That myth was shattered in a devastating way in front of their disbelieving eyes along with 67 million other people. Obama is a loser and they are starting to see the writing on the wall. I was surprised at the number of hard core supporters who acknowledged that the debate was a disaster.
as I said on another thread, Obama expected to MSM Romney to appear. OOPS they were lying to him......
