[T]he stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their [Arab- and Pakistani-Americans'] sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction. [Emphasis mine.]
- Barack Obama, The Audacity of Hope, p. 261
Yes, Obambi is huffing and puffing his mightiest to help ensure that political winds blow in that same ugly direction
he was always hoping for, yet still pretends to “fear”.
That’s his M.O.-—that’s why he’s worked so mightily for the last four years to create and SHAPE America into something
that resembles exactly what he says he was facing four years ago, something even more urgently needing his expertise, his guiding hand, to rectify and heal, starting NOW, for another four years.
There couldn’t be anything more cynical issuing from a Presidency than what we’ve been forced to witness for nearly four years-—he’s his own self-fulfilling prophesy, and
he’s taken us all along for the ride.
We’re “through the looking glass”, and if Orwell didn’t predict this all sixty-some years ago, Kafka did eighty-some years ago.
