In a lengthy interview with his hometown paper, Clint Eastwood defended his speech at the Republican National Convention, saying his unconventional performance was a spontaneous decision.
The former mayor of Carmel, Calif., gave an interview to The Pine Cone; the story was published Friday.
"President [Barack] Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people," Eastwood told the paper. "[Mitt] Romney and [Paul] Ryan would do a much better job running the country, and that's what everybody needs to know. I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for people in the middle."
Eastwood sounded far from defensive over criticism of his self-described "very unorthodox" speaking style, freely admitting, "I really don't know how to" give a traditional public address. He added: "That's what happens when you don't have a written-out speech."
In his opinion, Eastwood said his critics in the media "are obviously on the left" and would be critical of him no matter what he said. As for Eastwood's fans? Well, not all of them loved the speech, but it doesn't seem to have changed their affection for the Academy Award winner.

There he goes again! Saying what the rest of us have been thinking for the last 4 years! About damn time that somebody with a voice spoke the truth.
LOL.
Now on yahoo!
WOO-HOO!
He didn’t have to “defend” anything. FU Yahoonews.
I live in Carmel and went to school with his kids:
Some time back locally here there was a drunk Vietnamese jerk kicking his 7-months pregnant wife in the tummy for no reason in a store:
The butcher (whose wife was also 7-months preggo by some coincidence) asked him to stop many times, but drunk VC simply continued as before; the butcher came round the meat fridge and punched him out, thereby stopping the needless altercation.
The cop who responded confirmed via video the facts of the case and arrested the nasty, drunk VC.
Well WHAT do you think Safeway did to the butcher hero? SAFEWAY FIRED HIM....!
I heard about it on the radio at 2 am locally here and I was so mad I couldn’t go back to sleep —I felt like the firing had happened to me. It sounded like the story was not going to get heavy coverage.
Well Clint’s buddy is a PhD in physics and also a local RADIO HOST. So whaddya think I did? I called up the host Dr. Bill Wattenberg (who is pretty headstrong and doesn’t take any guff) and I related EVERYTHING, getting this Dr. Bill guy (Clint’s buddy) really good and mad.
Well WHO do ya think happened to be listening just then, locally, here? Huh? YUP...!
This is NOT news, but in fact Clint called up Safeway and gave them a good talking-to and GUESS WHAT?
Yeah, that fired butcher got his job BACK —Clint MADE HIS DAY.
Standing up for the little guy? THAT IS CLINT EASTWOOD, ALL CLASS.
And what I just told you is secret, but if you wanna check it out it was the Safeway in Del Rey Oaks about 3 months ago.
... The Duke would be really proud of him. Just think if John Wayne was still alive. So glad we still have Eastwood. Love the empty chair ... that was an ingenious psychological mind trip perpetuated on the lefties and the skit keeps playing over and over in their little, ah ... brains(??) probably like a “broken LP” ... LOL.
Mr. Eastwood probably has a lot of cash hanging around, and I bet he knows how to put it to good use. I bet he did a thorough investigation of President Obama in between making movies. I bet he wouldn’t make a statement about Obama being a fraud if he didn’t have the evidence.
Is that cool or what!? Thanks for sharing this. And thanks for getting involved.
We knew that, if they had wanted to, the aged 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus psycho spoiled brats and their bratty ideological issue of Madison Avenue, MSM, universities, and Hollywood could have elected a ham sandwich president.
Clint’s a little late to the party, isn’t he? Remember, Bill Clinton labeled him in the same manner in 2008, except he called it a “fairy tale.”
Yeah Clint! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! We Freepers have been saying it for four years, I'm glad we now have someone that more people will listen to.
How long before Eastwood is called a racist??????
greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people...
The media is going to explode!
