Clint Eastwood: Lawyers as President? Not a ‘Good Idea’
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 08/31/12 | Joe Palazzola

Posted on 08/31/2012 8:00:59 AM PDT by AtlasStalled

Clint Eastwood doesn’t think you’re fit for the presidency. His speech at the RNC last night, an embarrassment of riches for late-night comedians, included an argument against attorneys leading the free world.

Right. There are people with law degrees (Mitt Romney) and then there are “lawyers” (John Edwards).

My argument has always been this...As admitted members of the bar, practicing attorneys are, while not necessarily government employees, de facto members of the judicial branch. As such, their holding office in either the legislative or executive branches is a conflict of interest.

I'm not saying these persons should not be eligible to run for executive or legislative office, but in order to do so they should voluntarily resign from the bar and maintain no active associations (i.e. partnerships) with active practices, firms, etc.

JMHO.

Disbarred lawyers become politicians. For life.

In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress.

My personal opinion is that lawyers should be barred from even serving in congress, and/or engaging in lobbying, in any way, shape, or form.

The opposite of pro is con
That fact is clearly seen
If progress means move forward
Then what does Congress mean?

Ladies and gentlemen, won’t you please give $5, $10 or whatever you can to THE SEND A LAWYER TO PLUMBER SCHOOL FOUNDATION. Help save another poor boy or girl from a life of avarice and bickering!

You know, I missed it. I’d heard the Harvey referrence, but completely forgot Mr. Stewart the angle when I was wincing while watching Clint stumble and stutter.

Now it makes perfect sense. He was playing Mr. Stewart; WWII bomber pilot and Airforce Reserve General, and all around patriot and conservative.

Thanks!

Both Obama’s had a law license in Illinois.

Michelle: Rumor #1 says she lost hers in the early 90’s involving insurance fraud. She was headed for indictment & got a plea bargain by giving up her law license permanently.

Barry lost his in 2008 when it came to light that he had been in Indonesia under a different name—Barry Soetero.

He had filled out his application for his law license in Illinois stating that he NEVER had been known by any other name than Barack Hussein Obama. They cancelled his license, I believe permanently, also.

That’s true. They won’t attack Mitt’s schooling, unless they are truly stupid. To earn your JD and MBA at the same time, with Honors, is an excellent accomplishment.

Romney is a lawyer, he not only got his law degree, but he also passed the bar, and was licensed to practice the following year.

See post 59, and we don’t really know what use of his license that Mitt has made, we only know that he never used it full time.
