Missouri conservatives rally to Akin, blast Republican “establishment”
Reuters ^ | August 24, 2012 | Nick Carey

(Reuters) – Missouri conservatives say they are rallying around U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin despite his controversial comments about rape because they are outraged that “establishment” Republican Party leaders tried to railroad him out of the race.

A backlash has set in here in Akin’s suburban St. Louis congressional district, where supporters said the national party had no right to attempt to force out a duly-elected candidate.

BWHAHAHAHA

Thanks so much for that link Tomas.

Ping RedSteel per yesterday!

Unfortunately for the nattering nabobs of negativism who think Akin is some kind of medical Neanderthal, the London Daily Mail has a headline story TODAY which has this as the very first paragraph: “Stress can make women infertile, research has revealed. Scientists found that those with high levels of a stress hormone stop ovulating and are therefore unable to conceive.”

Thought you might enjoy that.

No thanks, I’ll just let your post history speak for itself.
Yeah, I don't blame you in not wanting to have to tell your "story" as it's so much easier to cast aspersion upon someone or make insinuations about someone.

Besides, if somebody did read your "story" and it was wrong, why, where would you be then?

We can go back to the beginning and let all the blocks fall into place if you want, but that would be ridiculous.

You're right in that it would be ridiculous, for if we went back to the beginning you still wouldn't answer my question and you would continue to dodge doing so.

You don't seem to have understood what the man was trying to say anyway.

You're funny. I like you. His words were plain English, as were yours. It's unfortunate that you don't understand what both of you said, but it explains your defense of Akin's stupid comments.

But (and I repeat myself) let's remember this: his statement was utterly gratuitous.

I'll presume that the rest of your questions are rhetorical. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Okay, you're wrong. That last set of questions was the most important of all. I'll repeat them to save you from scrolling up:

What grand principle was he defending? That rape victims don't usually get pregnant? Is that where we're planting our flag? What policy does that translate to? How does that belief improve the country? How does it advance the pro-life cause?

Can I add one more? How does it help him win the election?

Please answer what I asked. Don't tell me people are stupid, or the interviewer was a liberal, or it was a trick question, or the establishment is out to get him.

I could stand to hear you go on for days about it.... lol

Yeah, I’m really glad God made us male and female. Males are pretty cool. At least the guys in my life. I’ve been really blessed that way. A lot of fun, inside and out. lol

I was just funnin’ya. =)

But there are women who have had terrible experiences with men. Sometimes when I’m snuggling with my husband I’m overcome by how blessed I’ve been, and wishing every woman could have men like I have in my life. Protectors and providers, funny but deep too, experimenters, gentle yet aggressive, hard-working and committed, selfless (mostly. lol), fascinating body (just one on that one, ‘cause that’s the only one I know about. lol), mechanically-inclined, good listeners, strong...

I could go on for days. lol. God was smart to make male and female work together. =)

Hey, how about we look at something McCaskill actually said herself to put this whole "she helped him" argument into perspective in regards to her spending choices, shall we?

McCaskill, Akin tout extremes in Mo. Senate race Wed, Aug 8, 2012
"I believed Todd Akin had a chance of winning, and I wanted to make sure voters understood how conservative he was," McCaskill told the AP.
McCaskill's ad highlighted Akin's conservative viewpoints. It called him a "crusader against bigger government," asserting that he wants to eliminate some federal agencies and privatize Social Security and noting that he promotes a "pro-family agenda." It ended with the claim that Akin "is just too conservative."
Some Republican voters, including tea party activists, told the AP that the ad helped persuade them to support Akin.

Not word one about the ads influencing Democrats into crossing over and voting for him.

Her words indicate she wanted, by saying he was "too" conservative, to damage him, not help him.

I'll look at anything you've got to support your suppositions. Just "saying it" doesn't prove it.

re: “Akin’s words, for which he apologized even though he had no need to, were right.”

Bryan Fisher did a good job with the CFA fiasco but would do well to stop digging the hole akin had buried himself in.
The GOP is right to keep distance between the party and those insensitive to rape victims.

Gee Phil, are you back? I wasn't replying to you was I? As I recall, I was responding to another Poster. Do you have two FR Identities now?

Now you pick and choose a word out of a sentence and attack me again? You're not a stalker are you? JUST KIDDING!

Here is the statement that Akin the Idiot made:
>”If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”<

Well let's see. There is no reference of timing in his statement so I will assume it could be in present tense or past tense. I guess anyone can read that either way.

Because I used the word “during” in my comment, which was unintentional on my part BTW, it doesn't mean that it couldn't be “during” the Rape, does it? It is possible for the Egg to be Fertilized during the act isn't it? As they say, timing is everything.

I'm not a Gynecologist, although I would play one on TV if asked. Are you a pretend Gynecologist who has the answer?

Now, let's talk about your unhealthy crusade to catch me in a misstatement of fact. Akin made his ridiculous comment and I, like many here, responded with my opinion of how his stupidity could affect not only the Senate Race in MO, but the possible, if not probable before his comment, GOP takeover of the Senate.

The ripples from Akin are affecting the entire Pond, if you catch my drift. Do you deny that, or are you living inside the same bubble where Akin resides?

Regarding this comment from you:
>”And if you don't supply an answer, or won't supply an answer, you stand the risk of being nothing more than a shill, which already seems highly probable at this point based upon your statement”<

Here is my reply. First, I am perplexed on who you would think I am a "shill" for. I'm sure that little voice in your head is asking, why does this Kickass Conservative fellow taunt me so? I have no answer for that Phil, all I know is that I have supplied you an answer that I hope will satisfy your craving. If not, my apologies. If you're looking for my Agenda, it is very simple, Republican control of the Legislative, Executive and Judicial Branches of Government. Our friend Akin has jeopardized that dream. I will hope that his selfish actions will be all but forgotten by the Electorate in MO and the rest of the Country by November, but the Democrats don't roll that way just in case you haven't noticed. Now it's time to move on.

I’ll plead guilty to that, because that appears to be a significant factor motivating both parties nationally regarding this Akin mess. Unless this is taken into account, it seems to me that a reasonable understanding of the motives driving these reactions may not be attainable.

I didn’t feel that from any of you. But I haven’t been burned badly by a guy so I’m probably not as sensitive.

VictoryGal, I am very sad at what happened to your friend. The way she turned things around for good is an amazing thing, and I am so glad that the Lord provided a man who loves her, who shows her what a real man can be. I am sad that the dust-up with Akin has brought back painful memories and I hope that she is able to know how much she has the respect, appreciation, and sympathy of the whole community. She gave the wonderful gift of a child to a couple who wanted to adopt back then, and has provided a home for the children she’s adopted since then. Sort of like it came full circle, only the love was shared between several families through the children who were adopted. She allowed good to happen even through bad.

I can’t imagine anybody who deserves less to be hurt or blamed. She must be a heckuva person.

You're funny. I like you.
Attempts at flattery will get you nowhere.

...you don't understand what both of you said...
I fully understand what I said. Now, I may be wrong in my understanding of what he said, but nobody has convinced me otherwise so far, especially you.

... Akin's stupid comment...
Stupid, dumb...dumb, stupid...you just keep on and on with the negative psychological reinforcement even when it's not effective and the ploy has been used far too often, don't you.

...his statement was utterly gratuitous.
Once again, your opinion.

Okay, you're wrong. That last set of questions was the most important of all.
Very well...

What grand principle was he defending?
You would have to ask him to answer your question as I can't speak in his place.
That rape victims don't usually get pregnant?
This is a stand alone question that makes no sense of itself so I can't answer it.
Is that where we're planting our flag?
I didn't know you and I were planting a flag.
What policy does that translate to?
I have no idea what "policy" you're talking about.
How does that belief improve the country?
I have no idea what "belief" you're talking about.
How does it advance the pro-life cause?
I have no idea what "it" is so I can't answer that question.
Now do you see why I thought them rhetorical?

How does it help him win the election?
I have no idea what "it" is so I can't answer that question.

I did answer your questions as I was able. Unfortunately, you don't seem well suited to asking questions properly so you'll probably be disappointed with my reply.

Yes, that’s probably true. I hope he can perform well under the scrutiny. I hope he can put the focus back on McCaskill and the wrong direction she wants to go.

The bad thing about this dust-up is the circular firing squad could dampen enthusiasm. If you think everybody is a jerk you just want to stay away from everything. But I think people are motivated to vote against Obama this time, and hopefully that will help Akin when push comes to shove.

Medical literature has been saying that for a long, long time.

If a woman is raped within the day or two AFTER she’s already ovulated, the stress of the rape could not prevent ovulation. So that, by itself, would explain how a person could say that the body tries to shut down the process of conception and yet it doesn’t always work - all without implicating that the woman’s desires or feelings have anything to do with it. It’s the stress hormones that do it without her intentions whatsoever.

The idea of stress impacting fertility is not a real novel, controversial issue.

Maybe everybody is trying to say the connection between rape and fertility is controversial because rape doesn’t cause stress... seems like THAT would really be poo-poohing the pain inflicted through forcible rape.

LOL.... Yeah. It sounds like it. HA HA HA HA HA HA .... there is nothing to "recover" from except the endless attacks on his character by a bunch of alleged Republicans. Are you seriously calling for another Jack Ryan incident because you didn't like what Akin said?
