How about... the America team. His defeat forecloses any chance of repealing Obamacare.

If that is true, then it is not going to happen even if he wins.

Romney (our fearless leader) has promised to Repeal AND REPLACE Obamacare. This means that unless there is some kind of socialist healthcare mandate or program to substitute for Obamacare, then Romney himself is likely to veto any bill that attempts to repeal Obamacare.

Romney invented Obamacare. You think he's going to overturn it without some kind of socialist healthcare provision to REPLACE it?

Dream on. Romney has been a socialist all his life. His defining legislative achievement was Romneycare. That was his proudest moment as a governor. You honestly think that he is going to undo a similar program without some guarantee that something similar is enacted?

Uhhhhh -- No -- the last time I checked Rasmussen the GOP is on target to pick up atleast 4 seats and as many as 8 and that is without Missouri, and 4 gives them control of Harry Reid's seat. So the sky is not falling over Missouri.

Yep -- She was still angry in that interview over her candidate's loss in the Missouri Senatorial primary -- and it showed.

And Palin was stupid enough and ignorant enough to suggest that Steelman could run as a third party candidate or a write in candidate. Missouri law prohibits that. Palin didn't know that.

I will forgive her stupidity and ignorance. Too bad she can't see fit to forgive Akin.

No, we owe him nothing.

We do, however, owe our children a country that hasn’t collapsed due to obamacare. In order for that to happen we need to win. The will be no consolation prize for fighting the good fight. No 72 virgins if you martyr yourself to this cause. We have to win and he is an obstacle.

Is your personal loyalty to this self righteous moron more important than the future of the country?

64% of Missouri voters in the Republican primary wanted someone other than Akin, and Akin has turned an easy win into a possible loss. He was actually beating McCaskill by less than the others prior to the primary, and now he is losing. He should have stepped aside and let someone else take his place, but it’s all about him and not this country, our kids, or everyone’s future. I think we actually owe him a good kick in the butt.

My post #53.

Whoops! my bad.

Last paragraph should read..... The sampling that has devastated Akin, covered 500 respondents.

My time of visiting this thread next Thursday to see whither the sound and fury of the MSM is going, should read 1:00 pm Est.

Akin needs a new campaign slogan. How about:

“I may be an Idiot, but I am not so stupid as to vote for Obamacare.”

Whaddya think, is that a winner or what?

We do, however, owe our children a country that hasn’t collapsed due to obamacare.

I take it that you are one of the fools who actually thinks that Romney is going to repeal Obamacare without replacing with something similar. I have never heard Romney say that he is going to simply repeal Obamacare, however, each time he speaks about it he always includes the words "and replace".

Romney will not repeal Obamacare unless it is replaced with something similar.

Romney will not appoint any judges who will promise to repeal Roe v Wade.

Romney will not enforce immigration laws any better than Obama has.

In the grand scheme of things whether or not Akin can actually win this election is more or less irrelevant other than the fact that if Akin is forced off the ticket then the Democrats will show the world that their Alinsky style tactic to destroy conservatives is an effective strategy.

If we, as conservatives, are not willing to stand on our principles and stand behind those who have fought the good fight for us, then we deserve nothing better than to have Obama reelected, and Obamacare instituted for perpetuity.

Perhaps it will cheer you up to know that American elections have turned on idiocies and lies on a fairly regular basis.

In 1800 Jefferson campaigned claiming the Bank of the United States was a monster turning the nation into an aristocracy. Jackson later did the same thing wrt the 2d Bank which he proceeded t destroy and plunged the nation into a ten year depression.

Yes, it's been five days. That poll was done after what? One day, two, maybe? At the height of the outrage?

Which is why I said, give it a week, and see what's going on.
The GOP may not like him right now, but they may not have a choice here. But they are welcome to shoot themselves in the foot. Shoving him out the door right now will not save anyone any more than all the distancing and refudiation of the last five days has stopped the Dems from connecting and reconnecting Akin to R/R and anyone else who's pro-life.

“How much damage will Akin do to the other 8 competitive Senate races”

So what’s new? We have always been and will forever be tarred as the Stupid Party.
It’s just not going to stick this time. Besides every republican candidate on earth has disowned and disavowed Akins. That’s why it would tickle me to see him win. Who would he be beholden to? He would make em squirm. That’s the kind of senator we all say we want - un-beholden and his own man! Just my nature. Contrarian all the way.

Are you voting democrat because of Akin? Of course not.
Besides, the news media has ADD and won’t focus on this for long once the presidential race gets heated. And most ‘Show Me’ staters aren’t the type to be brainwashed.

Interestingly, in 1998 Fay Boozman, a friend of Huckabee, said much the same thing as Akin in his Arkansas senate race against Branch Lincoln. Boozman lost, but, ironically, his brother beat Lincoln in 2010. Guess the folks of Arkansas didn’t hold his brother’s ideas against him. Nor will most sensible folks believe that Akin’s ideas represent all republicans. The economy will decide the presidential race.

Another peculiar twist - Fay Boozman was a medical advisor to a crisis pregnancy center. You just can’t make this stuff up.

” Romney will not appoint any judges who will promise to repeal Roe v Wade.

Did you know that Romney has selected Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice to make a list of prospective nominees for the Supreme Court ?

It’s got to be true, because the Great One, Mark Levin, said it. I do believe that Romney is serious about righting America, and is willing to be a one-term president if that’s what it takes.

Sekulow has a reputation of being one of the foremost litigators in behalf of religious liberty and free speech.

Eight is not going to happen. Four becomes three because Maine is gone. And even without MO`s Senate seat, Akin`s presence is radioactive, and the dems will refer to him everytime there`s a debate or a need for a political ad theme. He`s probably a good guy, but he`s like the brand new starting QB who put his team`s chances of winning a game because he throws a pick-six evertime he picks up the ball. He`s not ready for prime time.

And the worry is, that with now, national attention, this idiot under the spotlight, with his self inflated sense of importance will besmirch conservatives up and down the land.....I am vehemently pro life myself, but this guy is making life very hard for the articulate conservative candidates.....he needs to go, and should have gone ages ago. He is a disgrace and I’d imagine a huge regret for a lot of people that put him where he is.....

Akin’s comment went beyond the “legitimate” gaffe into indefensible ignorance when he invoked magic biology.

And his comment helps sustain the stereotype that conservatives are ignorant of modern science.

To: "The woman's body has a way of shutting that whole thing down." I guarantee you this man either slept through or never took a single anatomy class in his entire life. As I noted on another thread:

The statistics show that there is a statistically significant decrease in the chance of pregnancies following forcible rape. There is no way to scientifically determine the exact explanation. The fact is that events like this can cause significant hormonal imbalances in women as with any serious traumatic event. This could be the explanation. Another explanation could be prayer. The fact is that there is statistical evidence to show an anomaly. Akin's theory to explain that anomaly is as valid as anyone else's.

P-M, would you please post a link to the stats showing the anomaly. Statistics showing Akin's point pretty well puts Akin in the clear. As you say, you can't "stage a violent rape" to see what happens in a woman's body.

And how do you know that Romney won't use this list to make sure that none of those judges are on any court?

Do you have any reason to believe anything he has ever said?

The stats were pretty easy to locate on google just a day or two ago, but now when you try to search for that documentation all you get are links to news and blog stories about Akin.

Those stats have been on pro life websites for years.

He is now officially tagged as a loser with this 10 point under water poll. His campaign funds will dry up with the exception of a few evangelical diehards and hopefully he will remove himself within the next 2 weeks
