A Republican candidate for sheriff in New Hampshire apologized today after saying he could use deadly force if necessary to stop an abortion doctor, a comment made as the GOP tries to move beyond Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin’s own abortion comment.

...and my point here is, wether or not you agree with laws, you don’t get to be judge jury and executioner, which apparently this nutjob wants to be...he should be run out of the state.
Don’t like abortion? work to change the laws - threatening to kill people who do legally protected things because you don’t happen to agree with them makes you a terrorist, not a sheriff.

Suppose you were the sheriff in a town and you witnesses a deranged man walking out of a kindergarten classroom covered in blood and holding a bloody axe and you saw that he was about to enter a pre-school classroom?
What would you do?
Notice how every single news article, newscast and DNC communication related to these clowns starts with the word “Republican”.
Since it happened, the ‘rats have been repeating that “rape” comment nonstop in their communications to make sure all their shock troops repeat it to swing voters.
It also sickens me to see so many FReepers taking the bait. For the record, I abhor abortion. However, like substance abuse, it will not be stopped and the situation will only be made worse by violence, outlawing or restricting the act itself. We need to focus on improving and educating society so fewer people see abortion as an option. Only then will it naturally go away.
This looks pretty loony for a sheriff to say this of course. But it made me think about something. The fetal personhood definition has been tried in several states, and I don’t think it’s passed anywhere, and I assume most states just don’t have a definition of when protection of the law applies in regards to babies in utero. So is there any reason a county or city can’t pass a law defining a fetus as a person? It would certainly be easier to find a simple majority in a conservative county rather than find enough state legislators willing to take a bold step. Not sure it’s what the prolife cause needs, but I can’t think of any laws it contradicts.
According to the Nuremburg precedent, a government official is guilty of murder if he allows murder to occur under color of unjust law. According to the natural law tradition our nation was founded upon, unjust laws do not bind.
I don’t think it’s prudent for a local sheriff to use force against a decision of the Supreme Court. We saw what happened when that was done in the 1950’s, and the outcome would be the same today even though justice is no longer on the side of the Court.
Years from now, our children will indict the sheriffs who did nothing today anyway.
