US Faces Stiff Opposition to Oil Release For Political Gain

President Barack Obama faced stiff resistance to the possibility of releasing emergency oil reserves to quell rising energy prices on Friday, with Asian allies and the head of the West's energy agency rejecting any need for action now.
A day after Reuters reported that the White House was "dusting off" plans for potentially tapping the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, the executive director of the International Energy Agency, Maria van der Hoeven, was blunt in her assessment: "There is no reason for a release."

I wonder how much longer the word emergency will be used to describe the strategic petroleum reserves...
An international agency has the power to decide whether we release oil from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve?
It is disgraceful that Obama is willing to take oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve while preventing available oil coming in from Canada by blocking construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. Price of oil via the pipeline should be favorable to the U.S. since, at present, we are the only market for this oil.
You worry too much. Petroleum is so 20th Century and our new “Great Green Fleet” will be algae-fueled by 2016. Relax.
We should be filling them instead of draining them. War in the Middle East is no more than 2 years away.
Whatever weakens America’s ability to fight a war is at the top of the zer0’s “to do” list.
This dork is going to release them and then the next thing is, we will have to fill them at the high price range of oil.
This asshole is the dumb and dumber of the century.
