If they knew he was ill, why didn’t they do something about it?
Its virtually impossible to force a mentally ill person to do something he does not want to do. Plus in this country it is incredibly difficult to have someone committed, just being crazy is not nearly enough. Applying to a mental facility is like applying to Medical School, it takes years of effort.
What would you suggest they should have done?
maybe I’m off base here.. but it seems like these are the people (loughner, holmes etc) who used to be in the state hospitals.... isn’t it lib mentality - rehabilitate them into society - that lead to the closing of these hospitals and the subsequent mentally ill homeless wandering around city streets? When I lived in Boston in the ‘80s (before it when total libnut) there were 100s of homeless that had come from the state hospitals.... it’s sad....I suspect that maybe there isn’t anywhere to go with these people... family just hopes they don’t snap....I could be wrong but thats how it looks to me
