In 1830, Frederic Chopin turned 20, and now the majority of his works found their way to the publisher. There are fewer and fewer pieces that fail the test. Among the gems of this year are a collection of four mazurkas.

Chopin: Mazurka in F# minor, Op. 6/1

Chopin: Mazurka in C# minor, Op. 6/2

Chopin: Mazurka in E, Op. 6/3

Chopin: Mazurka in E-flat minor, Op. 6/4

This nocturne didn’t make the grade but was published long after Fred’s death. This doesn’t mean that it’s a bad piece. It has a wintery feel.

Chopin: Nocturne in C# minor

A waltz also belong to this category, and it has become a favorite over the past century and a half.

Chopin: Waltz in E minor
