The country is moving to the left no matter who is elected.
What matters is what happens in 2016. If someone like Scott Walker is elected in 2106 with a conservative majority in Congress, then a Romney loss will have been a beautiful thing.
That is only hope the country will move to the right in the next five years.
Before 2016, euro-socialism (at the most optimistic), will be permanently established in the U.S. after Obama, there will never be a majority to eliminate the plethora of government benefits that will be keeping them afloat. People will have to vote to eliminate their only visible source of food and shelter.
You won’t get Scott Walker in 2016, you’ll get Greece.
