I just had a stupid thought.

Virgil Goode should ask Tim Pawlenty to be his running mate. Then the ticket would be “Goode & Pawlenty.”

This is my guess. I don’t think Obama thinks that these ads will turn Romney voters into Obama voters. I’m thinking that they want to dispirit Romney voters into either staying home or that they will turn to a 3rd party candidate, and that enough 3rd party voters would upset the apple cart in swing states, the same way Perot did in ‘92. It wouldn’t take as many that voted for Perot, but just enough to keep Romney from squeaking out a victory in certain key states.
