Years ago Mrs. Peet was a head teller at a bank in a college town. People like Mr. Smith were the norm -- there is not a creature on the planet nastier than an academic bigot. They had one so bad tha he regularly left the line-tellers in tears. The Mrs. couldn't do a thing about it; not enough authority. The problem was finally solved when the branch manager went on vacation. His substitute heard the beginning of abusive customer's rant and intervened. Closed the "perfessor's" account, handed him a check, and told him never to set foot in the bldg again.

Not the first time I heard of a customer being fired[1], but the best. *HUGE SMILE*
