Yes,but in fairness it does sound (from one of the comments upthread) that the original reports of it being sent back to England, by people on our side, were also misleading: Bush had a loaner while the original 1965 bust was in for repairs; when the original came back and Bush left office, the loaner was sent back. That should have been reported by our side in 2009.

Obama’s crime was to demote the, now restored, original from the Oval Office to the Residence.

I am impressed that Romney got it right—was careful to say, “restored to the Oval Office.” Someone in his staff must have paid attention to the details.

It would behoove us to do the same.

All what you say is true, however, the british government offered the bust to Emporer Nero Narcissus for 4 more years.

Uhm, NO.

Barry did give the bust that was cause celebre back to Great Britain.

It remains in the British Ambassador’s residence and on their sovereign soil.
