Can somebody tell me what Romney has said to insult the British?
I’ve seen headlines from the liberal media but do not read their stories.
““There are a few things that were disconcerting, the stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials”.
Whatever else you can say about the guy, please. He was sitting as a guy with Olympic experience, being asked about how it looked like London was doing. Anyone who reads the news would express the same concerns. And it was done in a polite matter of fact manner, not rudely. Pleanty of things not to like Romney for, but this ain’t it.
The 3rd highest grossing movie was Spider-man. This isn’t even on the charts.

How could Romney commit such a gaffe?
I just don’t understand.
I doubt that, or why would our local radio station be having to take donations to get it shown in other cities?
Got some kind of backup for that claim?

Obama made that obsolete. Romney can say anything he wants about Obama overseas and i’m fine with it. Obama sided with the Mexican government against Arizona. As a candidate, Obama struck deals with Iraqis aganst Bush. And worst of all, told Medvedev that he would do the things they wanted, but they needed to give him “space” so he could sneak it by his citizenry, which he knew would oppose it.
No lectures from Barry about “the waters edge”, or of acceptable behavior overseas.
Who wrote this? A foreign English speaker?

So did Romney say he didn’t like beans on toast..or malt vinegar on french fries er chips? No? Oh, he said he didn’t know if the Olympics would be successful. Well, what an insult! I’ll bet the British are up in arms about that terrible statement. (snicker)
It would be wise to avoid the Olympics. Especially this one.
This is a controversy ginned up by the British media, 99% of whom are probably for Obama. Most of the British “Conservative” Party, which is to the left of our Democratic Party (or was until Obama came along), also supports Obama. If Romney thought he was gonna be greeted with a ticker tape parade, he was sorely mistaken.

Romney will not get my vote but this is a completely ginned-up story.
First, the man does know how to run an Olympic Games, having done it himself. In that respect he is perhaps uniquely qualified to say what he said.
Second, he appears to have been repeating fact. The British Government did have to add security and there was a threatened strike. That’s not a ‘gaffe’ of any kind.
I didn’t see an insult, I saw a direct answer to a question. There is disconcerting evidence that they may not be prepared... and I am probably the biggest Anglophile on FR. Not a Romney fan, but this criticism is undue.
