The A4 is available in both ‘action’ types, though. In the ‘as accepted’ specification they had and have both options, it’s just that so far they have opted only to buy the 3rd burst models. Both types are produced and are equally validly called the A4. The NSN number for the FA version is 1005-01-383-2872.

Some Marine and Army units adopted the M16A3 as well as the Navy, but in very small quantities.

There is no M250. Do you mean the M240B or M240G?

Thanks for the correction. I did mean the M240....M250 didn’t quite sound right. BTW - I have never seen a real M240 up close.....I haven’t gone to the range since the M60 was the medium machine gun!
