Why is he doing this in an election year? He’s doing the same thing in CA, but this is the first time I’ve seen anything about the Left’s reactions to his hypocrisy. The sources they quoted say they supported him last time, and will again.

To quote Wanda James,
“I think a lot of people are trying to support Gary Johnson, but it’s the wrong move right now,” she said. “We’ll be cutting off our nose to spite our face if we allow Romney to win this election, because it would be the end of the marijuana industry. At least under Barack Obama there is some pretense for the industry to exist.”

Medical marijuana is her business, so I’m guessing she’s hopeful he’ll be “flexible” after the election like he will with Vlad. One wonders how many more backdoor promises are being made to who knows how many people.

I haven’t seen or heard Mitt mention drugs in his campaign, but the ideologues use the fear of him to continue supporting the man who has outright lied to them and is acting in direct conflict with their interests.

Gary Johnson doesn’t have the snowball’s chance, but the libertarian POV on drugs is a lot more sensible than what’s going on now.

We started with a Constitutional Republic and a society built upon The Ten Commandments. For at least the last 100 years, the people we’ve been electing to represent us have been busy working to enslave us.

Did the people not learn anything from Prohibition? What industries were created to combat what was a relatively minor problem? Were the opium dens as big a problem as what we have now?

Trying to regulate man’s desire to alter his state of consciousness is a fool’s errand. People have been using and some abusing substances throughout history. A certain number will kill themselves doing it. Some will be responsible in their behavior and should be left alone.

The industry is already in place to supply all the drugs anyone might want. If drugs were to be legalized and subjected to fair market principles, would it grow big enough to absorb the jobs that will be lost when we no longer need as many cops and prisons?

Obama doesn't want to give up government power, and he knows that most marijuana users will continue vote to for him no matter how much he keeps doing these raids.
