Well said.

I pretty much agree. I’ve doubted that anyone got zotted just for voting for Romney, or indicating intention to. But you hear things.

Yeah, JimRob owns this site and some good common sense ought to have those who want to remain to temper their Romney remarks, it’s just good manners if nothing else.

I will end with my observation, for what it’s worth, that FreeRepublic, no matter how hamster-driven it sometimes runs, has the absolute best news discussion and commentary system of any web site on the Internet, bar none.

The “ping” function is great, Freepmail is unmatched most anywhere if I’m right with ageing mind.

I’ve not found a web site designed any better and that’s the truth.

sorry, but that was a weasly response.

I agree with all the positives you mentioned about the Freep website..In many ways, it is the best site in terms of structure, coverage, etc.

“temper remarks..good manners”...this site has some of the most obscene and at times viscious comments. Some are then removed, but plenty stays. And often that’s the heat of discussion.
So, discussion re Romney is limited, very limited...very interesting seeing how he is the only candidate, like him or not, that we have against obama, its a pure waste of time to attack someone IF they are having a discussion about Romney and saying what the negatives and Positives are. That IS the election we have this year, like it or not.

And who and HOW do you determine what is “tempered remarks”?

Good manners is one thing, civility is another important point. But to add that to say arguments about Romney means if its anything positive about him its “poor manners”, but anything negative ( which is perfectly legitimate too) is “good manners.”
