Not only that, but microfilm can be tested for its age. If they were to attempt to create a fake microfiche, it would be pretty obvious very quickly. That's why he wants the microfiche. If a section has been cut and spliced together or the entire reel reburned, the forensics would reveal it. You can't fake a reel of microfiche from the 1960s.

Not only that, I'm sure they've found by now someone with an original August 1961 Honolulu Star Advertiser newspaper.

Yup, Zullo did mention surprise at the extent of the poor and impovrished areas of Hawaii.
Sounds like he talked to 95 year old Verna Lee, and other persons of interest.

I am a bit of a pack rat. I keep sections of newspapers when relatives are born, get married, or pass away.

I would think other like minded pack rats live in Hawaii.
You would simply need a lot of man hours to track down everyone listed in the Birth/Death section of that newspaper
