To: Tuxedo

Tuxedo - I am so sick and tired of all the bashing and everybody hating everybody. It used to be only on the religion threads. Now it’s everywhere.

Anyway - I like your screen name. Do you know the history of the tuxedo? For those who don’t, a century or so ago people with money used to dress for dinner wearing tails. One man who had a home in Tuxedo, NY had his tailor cut the tails off - similar to the smoking jackets he saw in England, IIRC.
The idea caught on. The tails (with white gold) remained formal and the ‘tux’ (with yellow gold) became semi-formal.

In Tuxedo, NY they never say tuxedo but rather say dinner jacket.

It's a nickname I had back when I used to wear bowties a lot.
