Obama - 'If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen'
Washington Times ^ | July 15, 2012 | By Kerry Picket

President Barack Obama addressed supporters in Roanoke, Virginia on Saturday afternoon and took a shot at the business community. President Obama dismissed any credit business owners give themselves for their success:

There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me -- because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t -- look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.

Spoken like a true south american tinpot dictator, obama. The government is NOT the end all, be all solution to all of our problems. The government is a necessary evil at best, and a force to be reckoned with at worst, and the day of reckoning will be coming soon for you.

The Community Organizer in Chief subscribes to the notion that it takes a village to raise a business. Solyndra is a product of his it takes a village mindset.

Beyond the ignorance of what Obama said about business lurks something more sinister; resentment. He doesn’t understand cause and effect and I suspect is upset businesses haven’t magically eradicated the recession so he can get reelected. Never mind that his policies are hostile to business. To him it is the responsibility of businesses to hire people, not to make a profit.

This is the same claptrap espoused by Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden. They have no clue about the role of free markets and entrepreneurs.

The Soetoro version of communism will work better than any previous (failed) version of communism in the history of mankind. The faster we all learn that, the better off we'll all be. All hail the mighty and all-powerful gubmint. Personal responsibility is no longer necessary and personal accomplishment will be impossible.

Funny, I did not see anyone else working along side me from 7 a.m. until after midnight for a couple hundreds bucks a month. In fact, I think everyone else worked regular hours and was paid a decent salary. Actually, seems to m they actually got a couple days off a week while I worked every waking hour seven days a week.

I also don't seem to remember anyone else putting their home on the line to fund the business the first few years.

I'm going to have to talk to Mr. Obama and see just who he is referring to that made my business happen. He must be referring to those old friends of mine, Mr. Delayed Gratification and Mr. Risk.

To apply this concept to another field of endeavor, Obama should know that he didn’t get elected president because he’s the smartest man in the room, the most brilliant mind ever to run for political office, or the man with the ultimate solutions to our nation’s problems.

Rumor has it that he does think he’s the smartest most brilliant man ever. I wonder if he applies this concept to the political world.

Probably didn’t have a class of Business 101 in Community Organizer school. I assume that the Indian Princess and Food Stamp President never considered that those business people also paid taxes that built the roads, paid the government (DARPA) to invent the Internet (sorry Al baby), etc. Communists always ignore inconvenient facts.

Spoken like a person who never ran so much as a lemonade stand, and never knew anyone and does not associate with anyone who did. Government puts up infinitely more obstacles to the creation of a business by regulation, interference, and the injection of its own outside agendas, than it builds bridges or roads.

He is just scary ignorant. To him it’s all about redistribution.... What’s yours is mine/what’s mine is mine.
He has no concept of hard work or personal sacrifice. Everybody should have an equal slice of the pie whether they work for it or not.
Just disgusting.

Spoken like a man who has never created a thing in his life. A man who has never known the fear of standing before a blank page. An empty factory. Or a new store. Of risking his money and his reputation to build a business where nothing existed before. A parasite who has lived off the fat of this land created by his bettors. A despicable and contemptible piece of human trash.

Did this stupid SOB ever hear of “risk and reward.” Entrepreneurs risk everything. Some of them succeed, others fail. No part of the government has anything to do with taking a risk.
