One strains, studying the entire history of presidential elections, to think of a president who was re-elected under such economic conditions as prevail in the U.S. today. Now, with June's campaign finance data trickling out, we can add the grotesque financial mismanagement of the Obama campaign as another factor counting against the president in addition to those historic headwinds.

Obama’s base of “takers” is beyond accepting fancy rhetoric. They want to start getting more from his stash, and they want to see it NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!
FDR, three times. Obama's singing from the same hymn book.
The article makes the point that Obama is in trouble because of money that Obama has in his campaign account.
The article doesn’t mention the free advertising that the MSM provides, advertising by unions, Soros backed groups and our “educators”. Not to mention the campaign travelling that Obama does under the guise of presidential business (funded by taxpayer money).
I wouldn’t get too comfortable about Romney’s good month of raising revenue.
This is all true, and should provide a degree of caution in keeping score.
I take a great deal of comfort, however, in the fact that business, in general, is not donating to Obama. For business, especially when a Democrat is in the White House, it's never been about ideology. A great majority of business donations are PROTECTION MONEY-meaning that they are asking for the favor of having their business or their industry spared from egregious legislation. The other major motivation for business to "give" to Democrats is to curry favor. This is, of course, always a "bet", a gamble on whether or not the candidate you are attempting to "purchase" will win or not.
It's pretty obvious now that most, though not all, donations from the private sector are betting on an Obama defeat in Nov., IMHO. It absolutely astounded me that Bill Clinton got so much from business when he was running for a second term, even though the private sector was under threat from his policies at that time. It doesn't seem to be happening this time.
Too good to be true?!?
It also strongly makes the point that a cornered RAT is a dangerous RAT and I absolutely agree!
And yet in most polls he is essentially tied with Romney. Of course, half of America is made up of idiots.
On the other hand, we've never had a President before who was the product of the Chicago political machine--his campaign may make Nixon's re-election campaign in 1972 look like a Sunday school picnic.
From now to the election, Obama will need to spend maybe 10% of his time on his official duties and 20% playing golf, and will have 70% left to fundraise and make campaign speeches.
I think another aspect is Obama's base has dwindled down to only takers. And takers don't give, so no donations.
Well it goes to show that Obama’s efforts at class warfare is failing.
FDR is lucky Mr. Weiss took care of The Kingfish.
"Undecideds" typically break strong for the challenger over the incumbent. If Obama is under 50%, he's in trouble.
You really shouldn’t pay much attention to these for public consumption polls as they are designed far more to influence opinions than to measure them!
Have you seen or heard the ads touting the wonderful benefits of Obamacare? How can they get away with these lies? One would think everyone had top-notch, “free” health care right now due to the passage of OC. They spend our money on propaganda, and nobody does anything about it. Grrr..
Yes, I agree with that. All the stops will be pulled for this one.
Forged documents promoted by Dan Rather is an example of what they were willing to do before - and will exceed that in this campaign.
I expect a LOT of polling place crime. Voter intimidation - they’ve done that and got away with it. I think it will get violent this year.
And now that the DEMs know that Justice Roberts can be pushed around by the MSM, they will challenge everything in court, knowing that they have the majority of the SCOTUS in their favor.
FDR got a TREMENDOUS assist from Republican candidates who were less than, well, enthusiastic. Alf Landon, Wendell Willkie and Thomas Dewey were all “progressive” Republicans, running on a “me-too” program, promising only to make the New Deal “work better”. Not a word about repeal of any part of the web of government programs that made Fascist Italy and Socialist England of the time look like a weekly book discussion group. (The Nationalist Socialists Working-Men’s Party of Germany tended to back up their agenda with considerable muscle and concentration camps.)
We have this so far from Mitt Romney - a vow to suspend further actions under the provisions of the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” on his first day in office. This is a very positive offer so far as I am concerned.
I want to know who the idiots are making $36,000 to $90,000 who support Obama. He is killing that group economically! How can people be that dumb?
When I see a more expensive car with an Obama bumper stick I just shake my head. What idiots! Do they think they will be one of the pigs living in the house?
