Just fyi, Oklahoma and Louisiana are taker states to use your lingo. There are only 11 payer states (states that bleed more money to the fed than they receive) and 39 taker states. I’ve made jaws drop when I’ve pointed out that Wyoming, percentage wise, is the biggest taker state in the union, receiving far more in federal money than is taken from the state. California might be nearly bankrupt internally, but it’s the biggest payer state, giving far more to the fed than it ever sees back.
In Wyoming’s case, maybe its because a great percentage of her oil, gas and coal are on Fed land, not to mention Yellow Stone would come under Federal expenditure within the State?
I'm extremely doubtful of these statistics. What's counted as "taking". There is a big difference between sending money to an Army base in your state and sending the state a few billion to support their Section 8 housing dependents.
We know California has more welfare recipients than any other state, it has about 1/3 of all the welfare queens in America!
Louisiana isn’t allowed to make a single penny from the state’s oil reserves. It is forced to be a socialist state, when it should be one of the wealthiest in the nation.
