the newly appointed director of bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender, and queer student life

Just struck me that it would be simpler and more accurate to refer to her (insult intended) as director of abnormal sexuality.

In former more rational times, “it” would be provided psychiatric help, not given a highly-paid post at a formerly-respectable college where “it” could influence our youth. Oh well, just jack up the tuition a few dollars more to pay for “it.”

In fact, Bailey prefers not to be referred to by any gendered pronoun.

That leaves "it", which I also think he'd (sorry, couldn't help myself) find insulting.

“...the College’s first permanent director of bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender, and queer student life.”

Does this mean that “Queer” is now a Politically Correct name for this bunch of....well,... Queers?

Excuse me - it’s now the artist formerly known as “The Artist Formerly Known as Prince” (he’s back to “Prince” now - and please excuse my use of the gendered pronoun).

Harvard's reputation crashed a couple of generations back; but this is perhaps a significant further milestone on the way to absurdity. It seems to be trying to challenge the Academy at Laputa (encountered on, I believe, Lemuel Gulliver's third voyage), in pursuit of the idiotic.

This is also an example of the spreading contagion of what I describe as Cloud Dancing.

I suspect that those Puritans who established Harvard as an intended center for learning, would be spinning in their graves, if spinning in graves was in fact possible. Maybe someone at the new Harvard will commence a study of the possibility.

Cheers!

Woof.

This may be the instance where their exception proves the point.

Another sign that less academics, more narcissism is the mantra.

This is the same university that lost a trio of prestigious science/research staff:

“...UC San Diego just lost a trio of prestigious cancer researchers to Rice University. Rice had offered them 40 percent pay raises over their total compensation packages, ... They take with them many times that amount in government grants. Scrapping the new Vice Chancellorship for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion could have saved at least one, if not two, of those biologists’ positions, depending on how greedily the new VC for EDI defines his realm. UCSD is not disclosing how much the VC for EDI will pull in or how large his staff will be: “We expect that [budget/staffing] will be part of the negotiation with the successful candidate at the end of our search process,” says Senior Director of Marketing and Communications Judy Piercey. Since the new UCSD vice chancellor will be responsible for equity, inclusion, and diversity—unlike the Berkeley vice chancellor, who is responsible only for equity and inclusion—the salary at UCSD will presumably reflect that infinitely greater mandate...”

So while Rice is pushing the advancement of science and research, UCSD is pushing...nevermind./s
