At least not until the Deep Earth Tunnel opens up with its two hour outings to China. If you can stand being on what will feel like a roller coaster starting at near 0G and ending at near 2G, and the risk of getting buried many miles beneath the surface.

For the guys there’s always the DIY electric head shave (bad-@$$ biker or marine cut).

you know what else those jobs have in common? As service jobs they have no employer paid health benefits, no paid holidays, no paid vacation, no 401K’s or retirement benefits. Thats the problem with service jobs. even if the money is good...nothing else about it is.

Going to a salon is a luxury many can no longer afford

MrB cuts my hair and I cut his. Fifteen minutes max, on my time, no gas, no appropriate dress and my wallet remains intact.

“For the guys... DIY electric head shave...

You don’t know how lucky you are! I don’t personally know of any men who have sat around crying over a really, REALLY bad haircut. (there’s been a few women that I’ve almost had to talk down off a ledge. LOL). For what it is worth... a marine cut or biker cut is quite handsome on guys. IMHO.

Jamie-our-hairdresser is officially “unemployed”. She’s a never-married mom doing her best, and her son is a very nice boy.
Bill says, each time, that it’s the best haircut of his life!

I am doing well and hope you are the same. I’m usually on the NC state board or the Undead Thread.

Job security but with a price: Seems like a lot of beauticians die of cancer in their 50’s....must be the chemical exposure.

The electrical contractor’s and plumber’s we know are doing very well. We’re in Texas, but they’ve had NO slow down, whatsoever.

So can funeral directors. They have a recession-proof industry. People continue to die and continue to be buried.

Obama can demand everyone must shave their head. If you don’t there will be a tax. John Roberts will approve insist on it.

You had a slight error - I fixed it.

You do pay for school & licensing here in NJ, then you compete with illegals who have neither.

The author completely overlooked that. The biggest threat to service industries like hairdressing isn’t outsourcing or automation, it’s competition from immigrants (legal or illegal) who operate unlicensed establishments and undercut legitimate businesses.

Well...mom and dad helped a lot.

The Potawatomi Indian Tribe helped some...but she did get a small loan too.

She went to a Paul Mitchell school..which wasn't exactly cheap. But way cheaper than a 4 yr college...

She's a good kid, a hard worker.
