I have to re-read that Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn book too. A Freeper turned me on to it some years ago when we had a Free Republic monthly book club going (something we ought to bring back).

That paragraph you quoted is one of the best advertisements for the Second Amendment that I have ever read.

Absolutely. I read “One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich” but didn’t have time to finish “Gulag”.

BTW my hub escaped from Eastern Europe during Communism. Lots of stories.
