Well said. It it is like a disease. But Texas has more immunity than California because California is the easy life compared to Texas and the elements one must deal with to survive. As Doug Sahm sings: “You just can’t live in Texas if you don’t have a lot of soul.” It is Realville for the most part.
That isn't what happened to California, what happened to California was the growth of Catholic and non-Protestant voters which turned California into a permanent blue state.
