In a 2008 op-ed in the NY Times, a distiguished professor of Middle Eastern studies, Edward Lutwack, wrote that it would be a blasphemy punishable by death for a man born of a Muslim father as was President (then candidate) Obama to become a Christian or call himself a Christian. Lutwack was figuratively frog-marched by the left for the suggestion and the NY Times was embarrassed at the polically incorrect slip. Yet no one of prominence including respected Muslim clerics in the West, corrected him.
That's interesting. I have a book written by an Edward Luttwak, published in 1968 by Allen Lane, that appears to be Barack Hussein Obama II's sole religious text. Are you familiar with this book? Luttwak was very young when this was published.
