Allen said the best estimate is that at least 100,000 American kids get lured into prostitution every year.
Unreal.

Sounds like a capital offense to me.

Anyone who exploits a child for sex should have their head placed high on a pike so that others would get the message.

to wit this was a fairly large operation - took place from Friday though Sunday with more than 2,500 state, local and federal officers working in 57 cities spanning many states.
So after 2,500 officers fanned out to 57 cites, they found 79 kids?
With that level of manpower they should be falling over them in droves - 79?

I know that’s an old joke, but considering the ages of the kids it was in very poor taste.

If one child is lured into prostitution it's a big problem, but this smells like a bull-s**t statistic to me. 100,000 kids each year? Really? 44,000 people graduate from American law school each year. So if this stat were true, you'd be more than twice as likely to run into a current or former child prostitute than a JD.
Uh.... sure. Color me skeptical.

Sorry. I saw the picture and posted.
Didn't realize the topic was child abuse (though the word "minor" on the sign probably should have been a clue).

The arrested pimps should get a mandatory death penalty when minors are involved. Yeah, I know it sounds a little harsh.

100,000 American kids get lured into prostitution every yearNote that the report doesn't say they become full-time prostitutes. I've seen reports to the effect that approximately 90% of runaway teenage girls commit at least one act of prostitution.
As long as you start thinking of adding in those runaways - boys and girls - who give sex for food, shelter, or bus money, I can see how the 100,000 figure is realistic.

From a story on sex trafficking in Atlanta, which has been presented as the hub of sex trafficking in the U.S. for the last decade or so:
"An estimated 1.6 million children run away from home each year in the United States. The average time it takes before a trafficker or a solicitor approaches a runaway is only 48 hours."

“I’ve heard this before but I do not believe that there are 100000+ kids lined up whoring in the streets or brothels.”
If you count 16 and 17 year old kids, that’s probably low.

“How many of those arrested are democrats?”
Probably the vast majority.
This is clearly another right-wing attempt at voter suppression.
