RE: Arizona Decision -
Lot’s of sad faces here today, but I do think it was the constitutionally correct decision.
AZ cops can stop and check immigration status but can’t stop someone from “making a nod or gesture” outside of, say, a Home Depot on the off chance that that person might a) be looking for work and b) illegal.
We don’t want to make the same mistake that Dumb0’s supporters do; granting executive power to someone simply because we agree with the goal opens up the faucet to the next pres, with whom we disagree, uses that power for something that we don’t like.
Same here. Immigration is a Federal concern, even if, as with Dumb0, he chooses not to enforce it. We need the laws in place and constitutional so the next person who becomes pres wont’ abuse his authority - whether at the Fed or State level.
Very well written.
Then it would seem sanctuary city and state practices should become a thing of the past, because they don't comport with Federal law.
Emotions can run high on all these SC issues--and "states rights" is a HUGE issue.
Yet on this one, I think SCOTUS is agreeing that "immigration" IS a Federal issue, and states cannot pass laws that supercede or infringe on those laws.
However, as I hope Scalia's dissent will point out, the frustration the States have with this President's failure to enforce Federal law needs to be addressed. And perhaps the best way to address this concern would be for the states--and Congress--to bring to the Court a direct and immdeiate challenge to the UNCONSTITUTIONALITY of an Executive Branch order that blatantly declares the intent to NOT uphold Federal law!
Arizona needs to start giving free bus rides to NYC for Illegals. Let Manhattan become little Mexico.
If NYC is no good, then try LA or SF.
There’s nothing else they can do, so start sharing the problem.
Get a fleet of old school buses and start rolling.
