More Democratic superdelegates are boycotting their partys convention in North Carolina amid fears that any association with President Barack Obama will doom them to defeat in November.
Representatives Kathy Hochul and Bill Owens of New York, who both won special elections in seats previously held by Republicans, have joined four Democrats from the Rust Belt in skipping the Democratic convention in Charlotte at the start of September.

Yes, we need the “HA” cartoon.
Seriously, these guys’ accountants need to get ready for the IRS audit of their life.
Invite them to the republican convention!
Anybody know if this unprecedented ?
Six super delegates boycotting their own democratic convention because Obama is radioactive
Our news organizations are so marginizaled it really sickening...
Imagine if six delegates boycotted Bush in protest....
Above the fold every newspaper in America
Wound not surprise that they have gotten death threats already
There is nothing the D,s wll not do to keep O in office
Since two of them are New Yorkers, I’m certain the NYT will give this prominent coverage in their Sunday edition...
Don’t be fooled by this gimmick.
If by chance, they are unfortunately re-elected you can
bet they will vote exactly the way Dirty Harry and Pelosi
tell them to vote.
Nothing more than a sham to fool independents.
Yada, yada, yada. After they get their phone call they’ll be front and center at the convention with their happy faces on waving at the CNN camera.
They are super delegates. There votes don’t really matter unless the regular delegates don’t vote the way they like. Then they come in and vote over them. Barack Obama is really running unopposed so there is no need for super delegates to rule over the regular delegates. Ohâ Yes I know about the guy in West Virginia and the one in Arkansas getting over 40% of the vote in the primaries running against Obama. It’s fun to point out, but it doesn’t effect the convention.
Yup, people are fleeing Obama but only until the miracle happens just before the election. At that time, Obama will make a miraculous surge in the polls and everyone will be caught up in the groundswell of support. They use a variation of this every election I can remember.
As I understand it the superdelegates votes’ count the same as any other delegate (in many cases more, because theirs is a whole vote whereas many regular delegates are 1/2 or even less).
The superdelegates do not have to compete in a primary, caucus, or state convention for delegate slots.
Now that they’re not going, it opens up slots for alternates.
Yes, I saw stories about this on msnbc, CNN and ABC... NOT!!!!!!
Here’s what gets me. Politicians like to go to conventions to do networking, schmoozing, etc. They will do things besides just cast the obligatory vote for Obama. It seems odd that they would somehow be busy doing something else during those few days.
They are politicians. A political convention is what they live for. Assuming that they like the candidates and positions of their political party.
