Calling tougher gun laws pivotal to Chicagos crime-fighting strategy, Mayor Rahm Emanuel [above] said Wednesday he would do whatever it takes to protect the legal integrity of the citys firearms ordinance, a portion of which was overturned by a federal judge, suntimes.com reports. Emanuel refused to say whether he would appeal U.S. District Judge Samuel Der-Yeghiayans ruling, or simply rewrite the overturned section used to deny a man a gun permit because of a prior misdemeanor conviction. Blood not boiling yet? Take your heart meds and make the jump for the money shot . . .
Emanuel said he would await Corporation Counsel Stephen Pattons recommendation before deciding which way to go. But the mayor said he is determined to preserve the ordinance one way or another. The reason we have gun laws the reason Im trying to also pass tougher gun laws down in Springfield is because its an essential complement to your overall crime strategy, Emanuel said at an unrelated news conference.
And we will adjust. Im waiting for Steves comments, but we will do whatever we need to do to continue to pursue getting guns off our streets and out of the hands of gang-bangers and drug dealers.
Except, I dunno, increasing the detection, arrest and conviction rates for said miscreants. Or, for that matter, allowing their potential victims to arm themselvesas is their Constitutionally-protected rightin some kind of weird ass deterrent deal.
Apparently, Rahms crime fighting strategy also involves getting rid of kids. Or warehousing them. Or something.
You cannot have just more cops on the street. Its part of a comprehensive strategy youve heard me talk about. Our crime strategy is putting more police on the street and getting kids, guns and drugs off the street.
“Remember, Rahm Emanuel has taken multiple oaths to protect and preserve the Constitution of the United States.”
The he should be tried for treason and then shot. Which would be an appropriately ironic end to that smarmy little freak.
I think a few upright citizens being armed would go a long way towards reducing violent crime.
At first, we would see some gang members legally meeting their maker, followed by a serious reduction as their numbers are reduced.
If a person doesn't believe in God and they swear an oath to God, what do you have?
Like I have said before: It doesn’t mattter what the Supreme court has to say.
Politicians can replace Unconstitutional laws with other unConstitutional laws faster than the Supreme Copurt ca keep up with them.
You aint going to beat these gun grabbing commie bastids until you remove them.
Bullshit.
He can't be Orthodox. They believe in and follow the Ten Commandments.
Hmm. Operation Fast and Furious was set up by the Obama Administration to get assault rifles into Mexico that would be found at killing sites that would allow the administration to argue that Mexicans were being killed by assault rifles from the US. In other words, they were willing to see people killed as a means of turning the public against the sale of rifles in the US. The more people killed by rifles, the more the public could be turned against the sale of rifles. Or any other firearm. I suspect that Mayor Emanuel has the same idea. Allow 7 to 10 young people to be slaughtered by guns every weekend in Chicago, then say these young people will continue to be slaughtered unless the US has gun control. The higher the number of dead every weekend, the stronger the argument for gun control. That is his MO: he has done nothing to stop the slaughter, and has proposed nothing to stop it, except gun control. That being the case, I would say he is encouraging the slaughter.
Yeah...he wants more crime...
Rham’s big problem is the black street gangs are major political players in Chicago, bigger than the Mafia. They’re a key part of the support for such Chicago worthies as the Rev. Jackson, meaning they’re a key part of Rham’s support, even though he won’t admit it. Thus, he concentrates on disarming law abiding people, while only giving lip service to disarming gang bangers.
Indeed, if he chose to go after the bangers, the way Rudy Giuliani did in NYC, with aggressive stop and frisk followed by equally aggressive prosecution, he could solve much of Chicago’s street crime problem. Not only would he disarm some of he worst people, but he’d also be able to use the threat of severe jail time to pressure many of the bangers he caught into ratting out the higher ups. However, since that would destroy ihs own base of support, we can rest assured that he’ll let the mayhem continue while persecuting law abiding gun owners and doing his best to prevent Illinois from adopting shall issue CCW. After all, he doesn’t want to damage the gang bangers’ business.
You will NEVER get guns out of the hands of drug dealers. If all else fails, they will smuggle guns in disguised as a routine cocaine shipment. Or just steal them from the military like they do in Mexico. Or just have some unemployed machinist MAKE them in his basement, like they do in Pakistan.
Rahm doesn’t want the Chicago machine to have to contend with citizens unwilling to cooperate with his organized graft and corruption.
Do you believe the gang bangers don’t have to pay vig to maintain their turf?
The Chicago Machine just can’t admit that they should have crushed the gang menace long ago, and it’s now gotten way too big and entrenched to deal with via normal law enforcement.
“Remember, Rahm Emanuel has taken multiple oaths to protect and preserve the Constitution of the United States.”
And like most liberal politicians he lied during each and every one of those oaths.
I think his history shows that he is more devoted to defending Israel.
Any Chicago residents care to give us their insight as to when Chicago is going to once again RIOT???
Black yut unemployment under this marxist punk there is how high?
About July 18th I figure...
