Your attitude about officer vs enlisted says a lot and none of it good, but then the Navy always has been known for the arrogance of its officers so I could somewhat understand. The POS is being treated the way he is because of the dictates of the civilian DOD and some of the gutless Army senior staff who want to protect their promotion chances.
The turd is not a line officer, he is a MO. Aside from that I don’t see much difference in what they are doing with him than the extensive time taken with other enlisted incidents in the past. They take their time although for this one his “religion” is driving PC to the maximum.
I have seen this from both sides during my career; started as an enlisted Marine to the rank of E5 and retired as an Air Force O4. I have seen plenty of officers treated much more harshly than enlisted for doing the same things. The idea is usually that the officer is given more trust and responsibility and are expected to not deviate from what is expected of them. Only the protected upper ranks both officer and enlisted with “sponsors” usually get off easier with outrageous behavior.
Save the “Lecture”. I have 20 years experience in the US Military. AND I had a FRONT-ROW seat to “Tailhook ‘91”. I then saw the Officer Corps(Navy and Marine Corps) cover each other’s 6 with things that would have gotten enlisted people a General Courts-Matial and a BCD. SO SAVE IT.
