I have to say that this sickens me greatly but I’m sure the wives of male submariners are more pissed off than I am! Divorce rates were high when I served but this will only make it worse. Submarine wives don’t mind 3 to 6 month deployments as long as their men aren’t near women on patrol. Submarine duty is much different from surface ship duty in that way. Ever smell a submariner after a patrol? A wife can! A wife does not willingly want to share her man that way with another woman - way too personal.
