Arthur Davis was first elected to Congress from Alabama in 2002. The Harvard Law School grad was quickly tapped as a rising star among Democrats. He became a Senior Whip for the caucus, co-chair the New Democrat Coalition and even headed up the Southern region for the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee. His eight years in Congress showed him to be a thoughtful, independent and energetic member. Yesterday, he announced he is now a Republican.

LOL! Not meaning to derail the thread, but it was only yesterday that I thought of my father (a WWII vet) using the term “hubba hubba” to hurry me along as a child. I looked up the term online and it seems that no one can really agree with its origin. Thank you for reminding me of him again.

Thanks for the note. As an fyi, I heard this phrase from Rush Limbaugh, who has used it over the years when he is reporting upon some very good, and surprising, news development. He shouts it with glee and exclamation points!

>> According to his blog, Davis is now registering as a Republican in Virginia <<

Not to put too fine a point on the matter, but the quote states an impossibility. That's because Virginia doesn't have party registration. So for the time being, Artur is only a Republican “in his own mind.”

Now of course, he certainly could enter a Repub primary in his current home, northern Virginia. He might even win the nomination. If that's his plan, I think his best chance of beating a Dhimmi incumbent probably would be in the 11th District, now represented by Gerry Connolly, because the 'Pubs have long done relatively well in the exurbs of Fairfax County

(It appears that nobody short of the Grim Reaper himself could dislodge the 8th District's execrable excuse for a human being, Jim Moran.)
