The thing that has always puzzled me is why a mother would ship her 10-year old son to live with Grandma unless little Barry was being a monster. Secondly, why would a Muslim stepfather who adopted young Barry allow this?

Barry was a little "@ss" in Indonesia too. Remember him saying he wanted to be King of Indonesia? He wasn't liked by the Other kids and I understand that they treated him badly. He was probably rather unhappy, and Ann was probably having rowes with Lolo, so she probably felt it was best for Barry to go live with Grandma and Grandpa.
