“Settled law”? Wow, that’s almost as meaningless a phrase as “settled science”. Law and science will never be settled, it is their nature.

It has meaning if one wishes to pursue a court challenge. Numerous court challenges have been made against Obama's eligibility to be President. If it were already settled law, they would not even be entertained.

If someone went to court in support of the right to own slaves, would you consider that to be a viable challenge even though the Constitution is quite clear on that issue? Or is it settled law that it is against the law to own slaves?
