At this point I fear a 4 year Romney term as being at least as bad as a 4 year lame duck Obama term. Romney offers nothing different from Obama than the color of his skin. Romney has proven himself time and again to be a knee jerk liberal with the same tendencies towards populist progressivism as Obama. Both Romney and Obama are clearly suffering from Narcissistic Personality Disorders. They are both consumed by their own self importance and neither of them are qualified to lead a boy scout troop much less the United States Military.

I will vote for Virgil Goode. I will live with the result of the next election but if it is Romney, then I fear that any hope for a conservative President in my lifetime will be dashed. Romney will be our Jimmy Carter and the first shot at a conservative executive branch will be no sooner than 2020.

This just about sums up my point of view as well. Those professing an 4 years of Obamao gloom and doom scenario if we don’t vote for Willard fail to understand that the deeper threat is moving the [R] party light years to the left and marginalizing Conservatives. We can survive 4 years of gridlock while resisting socialism tooth and nail, not 4 years of redefining the party to a point where its socialist itself. If Willard is elected, the GOP-e will have the “mandate” its always wanted: telling Conservatives to sit down, shut up, and “evolve”.

Awesome insightful comments by both of you.

Thanks

Yes, I wouldn't want to send my sons on an overnight trip with either of them. Romney wouldn't use a compass, but would take an opinion poll of the boys as to which way they should go. Barry would start the trip by searching the bags to make sure no unauthorized items were being brought on the trip including matches or weapons. Then he would conduct a pre-trip anti-bullying, pro-gay re-education seminar.

I'm just getting back here after a week's absence (having to do with family elder care), and am not up on everything that has transpired in my absence.

Notwithstanding, dear P-Marlowe, the above italics struck me as just plain nutz.

For openers, I think it useful for you to consider that there is no such thing as a second-term "lame-duck" presidency where Obama is concerned. If anything, if Obama is reelected to a second term in office, he would be even more active in deconstructing the American order than he was in his first term.

This is a guy whose model of governance is the King and his Court. (I.e., Executive Orders and hand-picked "Left Progressive" staffing of the executive departments of government that write the regulations by which we all must abide, without having to consult with Congress first.)

And let the Constitution be damned if it gets in his way. And he has legions of enablers and crony codependents, inside and outside of government, to help him succeed in the implementation of this new model of American government.

Secondly, most definitely, Obama is a quintessential example of narcissist personality. I agree with you there. But in comparison, how on earth have you come to identify Romney as a narcissist? Give me just one example of narcissist behavior on Romney's part. Just ONE. Then maybe I can credit what you are alleging.

I think you may be living in some kind of strange fantasy land, or second reality. You and the coterie of like-minded Romney detractors who have been holding forth at FR in recent times. It seems to me you have constructed a straw man out of the odds and ends of your hyperbolic imagination, a caricature of the man, so you can beat him with a stick with impunity — and mainly because you detest his theology.

I already know that you and your friends will vociferously deny this. Because such behavior as fundamentally unAmerican — we being a people who, in our history, have respected the principle of religious toleration.

It appears that you and your friends are people who cannot be reasoned with.

Notwithstanding, your vote for Virgil Goode is effectively a vote for Obama.

Just saying, from mind and heart. FWIW.

Thanks so much for the ping.

Up until now I was sort of toying with the idea of very possibly voting for Romney, if I could keep the bile down.

But no - no freaking way. Nope. Cannot.

This is what we need:

A REVOLUTION AT THE CONVENTION!
