Former Alaska Gov. and conservative icon Sarah Palin endorsed former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz in the U.S. Senate race Thursday morning.

Both Palin and her husband, Todd, pledge their support in a letter to Cruz, who hopes to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

“Your conservative principles, passionate defense of our Constitution and our free market system come at a time when these cornerstones of our freedom and prosperity are under attack,” Palin wrote in the letter, according to the campaign. “Our shared goal isn’t just to change the majority in control of the Senate, but to assure principled conservatives like you are there to fight for us.”

In a statement, Cruz said he was “humbled and honored” by the endorsement.

This is an excellent development. Now we need for the donations to flow in a some Super-PACs to run ads plugging Cruz’s candidacy.

It is true Dewhurst has a lot of money. But so did Lugar.
And if you remember, Mike Dewine, (the former senator from Ohio) son, Pat ran for a congressional seat in Ohio. Pat had all the DC crowd support and 6x the money all the other candidates had. Yet he finished 4th, yes I said 4th in that primary.

So, it used to be about money. But now, with the involvement
of conservative Super-Pacs, the playing field has been leveled
quite a bit. And the enthusiun is with the Tea Party.

ALL--

Texas Tribune is a Soros/Media Matters shill. Not that we shouldn't read it, but you should be aware that those who write for it are paid for by donations from ProgRats.

Cruz’s campaign said it has received donations from more than 19,000 people and among its endorsements cites the Tea Party Express, U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint and Rand Paul, Dr. James Dobson, Cathie Adams, George P. Bush, Gun Owners of America, Family Research Council Action PAC, FreedomWorks, Texas Home School Coalition PAC, Kelly Shackelford, David Barton, Peggy Venable and Young Conservatives of Texas.

With nine candidates in the race look for a run off between Cruz/Dewhurst.

Texas Early Voting by personal appearance begins Mon. May 14 and ends Fri. May 25.

Even though I live in Texas I haven’t been following the senate race. My bad, I know. Is Dewhurst too much of a RINO or is Cruz the best choice?

David Dewhurst is a strong Texas Conservative,a classic “citizen legislator,” who has only been in politics for about dozen years. He ran for office for the first time when he was in his 50’s, winning his race for Land Commissioner in 1998 before his election to Lieutenant Governor in 2002.

Last fall, I wanted Dewhurst to become Governor when Governor Rick Perry went to the White House, so I donated to Ted Cruz. From day one, I hated the way the Cruz team lied about Dewhurst and his record. I complained to the staff and Cruz at the Texas Republican Women convention in November and was in turn attacked by the staffers. The same thing happened when I spoke to them in February at a forum.

Other than his abrasive manner and early unwise decision to tear down a good man using poor ethics, Cruz is an unknown.

All we know for sure is that he is capable of doing what he’s assigned to do. He defended the laws that Dewhurst managed to pass in a contentious Texas Senate. In his current job, he accepted the assignment to defend a Chinese conglomerate’s patent infringement in lawsuit by an US citizen whose technology was stolen out from under him.

In contrast, as pro-life and medical ethics activist in Texas, I’ve watched Lt. Governor Dewhurst work in Austin. I’ve seen him bring together opposing factions to hammer out Bills - at least once he called us all together in his office the last day a Bill could come up for a vote, ensuring that we left with an agreement.

We watched the debate between the candidates and had already decided we wouldn’t vote for Dewhurst.....we’re rabidly anti-incumbent this time around. We’ve always voted for him when we were stupid enough to pull a straight Republican ticket. We WERE NOT impressed with Cruz....not at all. We’re voting for Craig James.

A great big Texas YES to both questions!

Dewhurst isn’t an incumbent as *Senator.* He has proven that he is conservative and can get conservative laws passed.

Dewhurst walked on the floor and killed a bill the Tea Party was trying to push through...I’m too tired to remember which one it was right now. But he killed it deader ‘n a doornail right before our eyes. The anti-Groping bill, I think. Texas needs to be a bold leader kicking the feds out of our state. Dewhurst cratered in the face of one letter from the TSA.

Yes, Dewhurst and Straus both have been quite RINO-ish as lege leaders, on TSA, on immigration, on standing up to the teachers’ unions, etc.

Dewhurst is not a bad person, but he’ll fit right in with the RINO go along club and wimp out on us. Cruz otoh ha conservative principles, can actually articulate them, and will have a lot of spine. He’s much better.

Cruz has all the right endorsements.
