Doubt it. I cannot even begin to tell you how many people I have known for decades who I NEVER EVER EVER EVER would have imagined would have EVER supported such a thing who have told me in the last 2 or 3 years that they now support gay marriage.

I do not know what has occurred but a deep level of brainwashing has gone on here. I think this is something we are destined to lose.

We're only destined to lose on this one as long as Americans keep tolerating phoney issues and false "civil rights" claims.

Conservatives simply need to have the guts to stop cowering and start pointing the finger.

"You're an American. You have the right to contract with any one you choose." End of story.

I know people like that too, but I still think it will come down to an intensity issue, the fact is that the vast majority of those people that use to be against gay marriage but now are "sorta" "kinda" for it aren't going to base their vote on how a candidate stands on that one issue. But those that are opposed tend to be strongly opposed and will vote on that issue alone, and they vastly outnumber those who strongly support gay marriage. If I had to guess I would say it's something like 20% Strongly Support, 40% strongly oppose and the other 40% might either claim to support or oppose but when it comes down to it they aren't really going to base their vote on that one issue.

——I do not know what has occurred but a deep level of brainwashing has gone on here. I think this is something we are destined to lose.——

I’ve long promoted the following measure of cultural change.

When the sixty-something’s say, “well, that’s what they’re doing these days,” whatever it is that “they’re doing” has won political and popular acceptance.

This shift in attitude of the politically and culturally indifferent middle is brought about by the media/political/professoriate complex. Through legislative efforts and suffocatinging propaganda, the indifferent middle comes to the conclusion that the end result is inevitable and that opposition is futile. The switch isn’t consciously considered. The conclusion is arrived at sub-critically -—”it’s just the way it is.”

We are close to the tipping point regarding sodomy-”marriage.”
