Absolutely correct!!, If we did not get term limits enacted we are doomed. A 30 year career in politics is NOT what the Founders intended.

I think when the founders did their work, they assumed that nobody would want such a career, especially Senators. After all, they were to be appointed by the legislature and as such they were almost certain to be prominent citizens successful in their own right, businessmen and farmers. Men with other interests in life than being a parasite on the back of the people. It think they imagined that these men, like themselves, would perceive service in government as a duty to be fulfilled then set aside, like sitting on a jury. The idea that people would say "this is what I want to do for the rest of my life!" was simply alien to them. Had they foreseen that possibility at all they'd have surely put in term limits.
